Hanging Baskets
The Group has arranged for hanging baskets in Woodford Green since 1992.
For instance in 2016 there were 14 baskets on the High Road and 40 half baskets on the 20 lamp columns in Snakes Lane and The Broadway; the total cost of which was £4548 which included regular watering and maintenance. Redbridge Council had supported the group over the years by reimbursing half the cost but our applications for 2017 and 2018 were rejected.
The baskets are in place from early June until late September/early October -they significantly enhance the area and are a highly visible example of what the Group does.
We asked Redbridge Council again this year to match fund our efforts for the baskets. Unfortunately they refused. So any flower baskets around the Broadway as well as on the High Road are paid for by your contributions to the Amenity Group.
Restricted funds meant that High Road, Snakes Lane and Broadway baskets could not installed in 2023
We have secured partial council funding for 2024 through Spacehive unfortunately we aren’t able to fund the baskets on the High Road shopping area, baskets have been installed in the Broadway and Pankhurst Green, with additional planters at teh Zebra crossing and outside the Library which were planted in conjunction with Wells Primary school.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to enhance Woodford Green.
